While Dunn's Cabernets slumped in quality in the difficult vintages of 1988 and 1989, the 1990s exhibit exceptional richness, depth, power, and ferocious tannins. The 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon-Napa is an opaque, awesomely concentrated, tannic wine with little aromatic development. Anticipated Maturity: 1996-2008.At this early stage, the 1990 Napa and Howell Mountain Cabernets do not appear to be as super-concentrated as Dunn's wines from the early and mid-eighties. The Howell Mountain is slightly more tannic, and the Napa more open. Both possess a tell-tale mineral, cassis, flowery nose, and rich, full-bodied, dense, highly extracted, tannic personalities.
