The outstanding, deep ruby/purple-colored 2001 Pinot Noir Block Five (from the upper slopes, cropped at a measly 1.5 tons of fruit per acre) boasts a Burgundian-like perfume of red and black fruits intertwined with flowers, dried herbs, damp earth, and minerals. Exciting in the mouth, with a layered, full-bodied palate in addition to a good underpinning of acidity and tannin, this impressive Pinot Noir will age for 5-8 years.
