The 1997 Gewurztraminer Sonnenglanz Vendange Tardive is only slightly evolved, and civilized. Crafted from a separate parcel than the vieilles vignes cuvee, this wine has refined aromas dominated by flowers, chalk, and minerals. It is feminine, precise, focused, and detail-oriented, yet remains extremely flavorful. Red fruits, roses, pink grapefruits, and pineapples vie with underlying minerals for the taster's attention in this medium-to-full-bodied, velvety-textured wine. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2010+.Importers: European Cellars (Eric Solomon), New York, NY; tel (212) 924-4949.
