The 2011 Friuli Colli Orientali Illivio is an elegant blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Picolit that sees ten months of barrique (although you only really sense the wood in terms of the creaminess of the mouth-feel). The wine sports a beautifully elegant and generous bouquet with deep and luscious layers of nectarine, pear and candied lemon. Where the wine performs exceptionally is in the mouth where creamy, rich density leaves a lasting impression. Drink: 2014-2018.
All these wines are imported to the United States with the exception of the Illivio white blend. No surprise, Livio Felluga has produced another knock-out collection of new vintages. The big news is the use of the recently-confirmed Rosazzo appellation on the estate’s top white wines, the Terre Alte and the Abbazia di Rosazzo.
