The 2005 Blaufrankisch Johannishohe displays lovely bitter-sweet black cherry and herb aromas. Soft and ingratiating on the polished palate, and with a mere 13% alcohol, it finishes with a Franc-like combination of toasted walnut, herbs, and bitter-edged black fruit. While I doubt it capable of further complexity, it makes a perfect introduction to the charms of Blaufrankisch (in one of its myriad styles).
