The 2015 Pian del Ciampolo (mostly Sangioveto with smaller parts Canaiolo and Colorino) is an easy-drinking wine with good harmony and a fresh, berry-driven approach. There is that same sense of intricate embroidery here like what you get with Le Pergole Torte and Montevertine, yet it is considerably watered down compared to those two watershed wines (both from the 2013 vintage). Alas, 2014 is a different story altogether and the wine is certainly leaner and shorter as a result. It's perfect for near-term drinking.
