The 1963 Vintage Port is part of this issue's vertical. The bad news is that it seems to be aging rather rapidly. The color is poor and it seems even older than it is on the nose, too. That said, it is in a fine place now and the fruit is simply wonderful. Beautifully balanced, enticingly complex and graceful, this doesn't show a lot of concentration, but it is fresh enough for the moment and quite delicious. There is something to be said for encountering a wine at the right moment. I wouldn't try to hold this for a long while, but it won't fall off the table. Winemaker Ana Rosas also questioned how well it would age--so, dive in.
