Elegant as well as complex and fragrant is the 1999 Shiraz/Viognier. Only 5% Viognier is in the blend, but it is apparent in the aromatics, which offer up telltale blackberry and cassis, but also a touch of apricot and white flowers. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with supple texture, silky tannin, and a fleshy, moderately weighty feel. Already delicious, it is best drunk over the next 4-5 years.
