The 2007 Etna Rosso Archineri was made just as Michele Faro and his family were getting a foothold in the Etna wine scene. The family owns one of the biggest nurseries not far from Catania with a majestic collection of plants and trees, some of which are very rare. This vintage of Nerello Mascalese maintains a good sense of tension and freshness, but the bouquet has moved away from fruit tones to instead show tart smoke, campfire ash and dusty mineral. This wine has come a long way over the years, shedding some of its bulkiness to embrace elegance instead.
