The 2003 Montelig is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot, and 10% Carmenere. The nose delivers aromas of scorched earth, graphite, black currants and blackberry. It has a supple palate-feel in a lean, racy style with a solid core of spicy black fruits. It has plenty of structure and should evolve for 3-5 years. Expect it to drink well through 2025. Offers a mix of dried currant, cedar, vanilla, pepper and loam flavors, with cedary tannins framing the muscular finish. A bit chewy in the end, but has some range and depth. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Carmenere. Drink now through 2008. 475 cases made. -JM
