Matured in a mix of American (85%) and French (15%) oak, with nearly half (47%) new, Mollydooker's 2019 The Maitre d' Cabernet Sauvignon wears it well, offering scents of mint, cassis, blackberries and cola on the nose. Vanilla and cedar come into focus on the supple, full-bodied palate and long, velvety finish, but the emphasis from start to finish is the dark, super-ripe fruit. With its lack of traditional Cabernet structure and austerity, it comes across as a bit warm, soft and flabby, but attractive nonetheless.
