The 2010 Montefalco Rosso Sallustio is 60% Sangiovese, 25% Barbera and 15% Sagrantino. It seems out of place but Barbera often plays a minor role in the blending formula of Rosso di Montefalco. The addition of the northern Italian variety adds bright acidity and color to this thickly structured red wine. Red cherry, moist earth and tobacco linger on the finish. Drink: 2014-2019.
