Sharp, earthy and herbal, this has more guts than most Sangioveses—that’s the good news—but it doesn’t suggest much of what you might consider true varietal character. It’s relatively dark for Sangio, and it’s a chewy, earthy red wine with some light and tart berry and cherry fruit flavors. A good spaghetti red.——P.G.(12/31/2008)—— 85
