The fruit for the 2009 Pinot Noir Renegade Ridge Estate comes from a biodynamically farmed (but not certified) parcel that was fermented in 75% open top fermenters with 11% whole clusters. Notes of cinnamon, clove, cedar, rose petal, cherry, and raspberry compose the wine’s enticing bouquet. Supple on the palate with ripe fruit and savory flavors, this nicely proportioned, lengthy effort is likely to evolve for 1-2 years and provide prime drinking through 2019.
Veteran winemaker Anna Matzinger appears to have maximized what nature provided in the warm 2009 vintage. She describes it as “a friendly vintage with lots of sunshine in the glass”.
