The 2006 Syrah Tierra Alta Vineyard exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with notes of blackberries, cassis, wood smoke, and charcoal, medium to full body, velvety tannins, and an attractive finish. Some barrel samples of 2007 Syrahs from the Thompson and Larner vineyards, as well as Tercero's GSM blend Cuvee Christie and Mourvedre all showed lots of fruit, but I will wait until they are bottled before commenting on them. In any event, Tercero appears to be a noteworthy addition to the Rhone Ranger family of wines.Tel. (805) 245-9584
