Although this wine doesn’t scream “Merlot” when you smell or taste it, it is nonetheless a good value red. It has fresh plum aromas with vanilla shadings along with cherry and cassis fruit that carries a buttery underlay. The finish is dry and creamy, with some chocolate flavor peeking through. This wine has stuffing even if it lacks distinct varietal character. ——M.S.(11/1/2002)—— 86
