From the two best and oldest parcels on the Siefersheimer H?llberg and thus grown on stony, skeleton-rich sand, gravel and clay soils with porphyry rock in the subsoil, Wagner's 2020 Chardonnay Reserve opens with deep, pure and refined as well as refreshingly pure and mineral scented aromas of ripe and well-concentrated yet still juicy yellow fruits, brioche and hints of flint stone. Full-bodied, harmonious and elegant on the palate, this is a supple yet refined and structured Chardonnay with fine tannins and a long, saline and structured finish. Vinified in French tonneaux, this is an impressive Chardonnay, the very first I have tasted from this domaine but already one of the finest in Germany. 13% stated alcohol. Diam cork.
