The medium to full-bodied 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc offers up notes of petrol, beeswax, marmalade and tangerine. Plump and succulent across the mid-palate, it turns a bit chalky on the long finish. Remarkably delicious, but very different from how these wines present themselves on release, it reveals the difficulty in projecting drinking windows for this bottling.
