The 2001 Zweigelt has a marvelous nose of cracked black pepper and blueberries. Its personality, regrettably, is rustic and tight. If time can soften its tannin prior to bottling and bring to the forefront the fruit visible in this wine's aromatics and attack, it will deserve a score over the given range.
