Toasty oak, sweet red cherries, and candied raspberries are found in the nose of the medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Pommard Rugiens (domaine). Loads of red fruits and oak are intermingled with freshly cracked black pepper in this chewy-textured offering. Its velvety layers of fruit coat the palate, and lead to a soft, un-Pommard-like, supple finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2009.
