Chateau Souverain has been on a roll of late, producing wines that offer excellent price/quality rapport. The current and upcoming releases include exceptional efforts that merit significant interest. Although there was no single vineyard Rochioli Chardonnay produced in 1994, the 1994 Chardonnay Reserve Sangiacomo Vineyard is a gorgeous wine. There are only 500 cases and it is not likely to linger on retailers' shelves. The wine reveals great fruit, a huge, spring flower blossom, vanillin, and buttery-scented nose, full body, outstanding flavor intensity, and wonderful purity and richness. The acidity is low, but well-integrated and adequate enough to provide a framework for the wine's character. Chateau Souverain must be on the top of shrewd consumers' shopping lists. Tel.
