The tank sample of 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve has a lifted nose of pineapple, mango and orange zest - again, more Chardonnay than Sauvignon Blanc. Very good definition though. Good weight on the palate, some autolysis notes coming through, fine acidity with touches of ginger on the finish. Perhaps it could do with a little more finesse?
Michael Seresin's estate in Marlborough continues to go from strength to strength, exploring new techniques to apply biodynamic principles that are zealously pursued. This year, they have some intriguing micro-production Pinot Noirs that reach new heights of quality, if alas not quantity.
