The 2008 Dolce is made from Muller-Thurgau vines planted in 1989. The berries have a fair bit of botrytis but are mainly shriveled or dried on the vine. It gives wonderfully intense aromas of marmalade, candied peel, acacia honey, apricot conserve and a whiff of muskiness. Very crisp, very sweet (200 grams per liter of residual sugar+), the palate is thick, opulent and concentrated, giving a very, very long finish. It’s delicious now but should cellar well to 2015+.
