Tasted at the La Romanée vertical at Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair. The 1982 La Romanée Grand Cru was tasted from magnum and labeled "Bouchard Père et Fils". It has a similar bouquet to the 1981, albeit with a little more precision, though nothing compared to the finest vintages. There is a savory tincture, dried blood element that develops with time, almost Pomerol-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannins, although there are not dry. Like other coeval vintages, there is a Médoc-like personality here, perhaps missing the class of the greatest era, but certainly with pleasure to give. Just don't expect sheer class. Tasted June 2015.
