Jammy and pumped to the brim with black-cherry fruit, it starts out kind of clunky but then straightens itself out. Fairly rich and fun to drink, it’s a little on the hefty side, but with personality. Plenty of sweet oak on the finish, perhaps too much.——M.S.(11/1/1999)—— 85
