The 1997 Shiraz plays it close to the vest, possessing a dense ruby/purple color, and plenty of black raspberry, earthy, prune-like fruit. Exhibiting excellent sweetness, ripeness, and a nicely-textured palate, it may merit an outstanding rating with another 6-12 months in the bottle. It should drink well for 8-9 years.
