The pretty 2006 Chardonnay has an attractive ripe, buttery nose with Clementine and buttercups, the palate ripe and very expressive, bursting with tropical fruit such as mango, passion fruit and star fruit but never becoming blowsy or losing its definition: great winemaking and redolent of a Napa style rather than Burgundy. This is another icon of New Zealand, whose wines helped put their Pinot Noir on the international map, their Reserve Pinot Noirs attaining high market prices (a vertical will be written up separately.)Importer: The Sorting Table, Napa, CA; tel.
