Two-thirds of Mikulski's parcel of Meursault Charmes was planted in 1930, the rest in 1913. The 1997 reveals fresh green apple scents as well as a concentrated, delineated, medium-bodied, and extremely well-balanced core. This wine has superb grip, as well as a flower, nut, and mineral-flavored character. This wine's finish is slightly dry and chalky. How Mikulski copes with this prior to bottling will determine its ultimate score in the indicated range. Drink it between 2001 and 2007.
Francois Mikulski fashioned delightfully ripe and rich 1997s. When asked what his pH levels were like, he responded that he never had pH tests performed on his wines and was not a fan of oenologists. He added that in 1997 he neither acidified nor chaptalized any wines.
