I was immensely impressed by the 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Les Gravières in barrel and just after bottling, and I was not disappointed when I revisited it several years later. Unfurling in the glass with scents of green apple, white flowers, praline and toasted almonds, it's medium to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with superb concentration and a long, electric finish. There's an energy and intensity to all Vincent's 2016 whites that really sets them apart from the pack in this challenging vintage.
