The 2007 Cometa (Fiano) is a richer, sweeter wine loaded with candied orange peel and passion fruit. The wine’s textured, expansive personality makes it suitable for similarly rich dishes, and the notes of sweetness should pair nicely with spicier foods. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. This is one of the better sets of wines I can remember tasting from Planeta. The estate seems to have dialed back the use of oak, and at their finest, the wines offer lovely balance.
