Available only in 500 ml bottles at the winery, the spectacular 1997 Sangiovese is clearly the equal to some of the super Tuscan wines emerging from the 1997 vintage. Pride Mountain's offering is unbelievably concentrated for a Sangiovese. A fabulous wine, its opaque purple color is followed by an extravagant nose of smoke, licorice, cassis, and toast. This intense, full-bodied, mouth-staining effort is gorgeously pure, with multiple layers to its personality, and a whoppingly long finish. It should drink well for 10-12 years.
