The 2012 Mystique is a smoking value that’s made from 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 16 months in one-year-old barrels. Complex, elegant and seamless, with loads of spice, tobacco, violets and black plums, this full-bodied effort has a rocking texture, no hard edges and a terrific finish. Count me a fan. This beauty will drink nicely over the coming 5 to 7 years.
Scott Greer continues to make full throttle, concentrated and textured efforts from his Sheridan Vineyard that’s located just outside the town of Zillah. While he opted to not produce his Singularity cuvee in either 2011 or 2012 (this is still a maybe), both vintages are strong, with his 2011s checking in near the top of the vintage. His 2012s should be a step up and have additional mid-palate depth and texture, as well as beautiful freshness. Nevertheless, both vintages are worth having in the cellar to say the least. In addition to some rock star reds, don’t miss his Chardonnay!
