I tasted the 1996 Chardonnay Russian River (a whoppingly big wine that tips the scales at an amazing 15.6% alcohol). With some residual sugar (or were the glycerin levels so high as to give the impression of sweetness?), this monolithic, full-bodied, mouth-staining Chardonnay will merit a higher score if it develops more complexity. At present, it is all glycerin and alcohol. It should drink well for 5-6 years.Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 578-3882
