Produced from the Pagani vineyard's 101-year old vines and 69-year old vines from the Franciscus vineyard, this is a huge, unctuously-textured, blockbuster Zinfandel with 15.4% alcohol. St. Francis's 1993 rivals the similarly-styled, highly-concentrated 1992. While the opaque purple-colored 1993 is rich and full-bodied, the most remarkable thing about this wine is its brilliant display of peppery black-cherry and raspberry fruit. It is huge and remarkably concentrated, but it is neither sweet nor overbearing - an amazing achievement given the wine's hefty alcohol.
