Damijan’s 2005 Prelit ( 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals terrific depth and clarity in its dark fruit, cassis, blackberries, sweet herbs and spices. The oak is beautifully-integrated and the wine possesses notable length. Only the slightly drying tannins on the finish keep the score from going higher. This is a wine of remarkable beauty in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015. These are two beautiful wines from Damijan Podeversic, one of Italy’s most gifted producers. Damijan has decided to delay the release of his 2005 Ribolla, which is still aging in cask. 2005 is a difficult vintage, in particular for the whites, which were affected by botrytis.
