I continue to be impressed by this excellent winery's efforts. Elyse has produced 350 cases of a 1991 Zinfandel from Howell Mountain that might have been crafted by Randy Dunn if he were making Zinfandel. It is a blockbuster, broodingly backward, dense wine with a saturated black/purple color, and a closed but promising nose of minerals and black-raspberries. Deep and full-bodied, with tremendous extraction of fruit, as well as high tannins, this should prove to be an uncommonly long-lived Zinfandel. It needs at least 2-3 years of cellaring. Zinfandel has a tendency to drop its tannins more quickly than Cabernet Sauvignon, so it may come around even sooner. This massive, large-scaled Zinfandel that has such terrific focus and wonderful richness should be drunk between 1996-2005+.Tel. (707) 963-5496
