This is the fifth vintage for this rare Washington version of Petite Sirah. It is almost jet black in the center, purple at the rim, tight and tannic with plenty of acid sculpting the earthy, black cherry fruit. Loaded into the finish are layers of earth, iodine, tar and licorice; it’s very well made and retains just enough roughness to satisfy lovers of this often rustic grape.——P.G.(11/1/2008)—— 88
