My favorite of this quartet is the 2004 Reserva from a great Rioja vintage. Made up of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Garnacha, it emits an alluring aromatic array of smoke, scorched earth, leather, espresso, and black cherry. Dense, layered, and elegant, it conceals enough structure to evolve for another 2-3 years. It will offer prime drinking through 2019, if not longer. It is an outstanding value. Vina Herminia’s new releases contain several excellent values.Importer: Christopher Cannan, Europvin; www.europvin.com
