(40% barrel-fermented, but with just 10% new oak) Pale yellow-straw color. Nuanced nose melds peach, flowers and spicy oak, plus a hint of tropical fruits. Broad but dry, conveying volume without weight. Subtle, understated viognier, finishing with hints of mint and minerals. I'd drink this before its fruit fades. (The equally good 2005 version seemed distinctly more floral on the nose and plump and soft on the palate, but with impressive freshness to its spicy mirabelle and nectarine flavors.)
