Produced in a period when Pavie was obviously in a performance slump, the 1970 Pavie is still a modest success for the vineyard. Not terribly complex, but chunky, straightforward, and four-square (as I suspect Michael Broadbent would say), this wine has a roasted, ripe cherry bouquet, and full, oaky, yet one-dimensional flavors. It is a good effort. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted from a magnum, 3/88.
