This once moribund estate has made terrific progress under the inspired leadership of owner Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie. Earthy tobacco, dried herbs, black currants, and spicy oak jump from the glass of this fragrant, medium-bodied 2001. The exciting aromatics are followed by notes of burning embers, pure black currant fruit, and a stylish, medium-bodied, concentrated palate impression. Tannin is present, but it is well-concealed by the wine’s excellent depth. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring, and drink it over the next 12-14.
