The 2006 TINTO (QUINTA DA TERRUGEM) is a blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet. Revisiting this recently was a rewarding experience. The wine is in a beautiful place and is showing very well. The initial tannic bursts have largely resolved and created a lovely, harmonious wine with quite good depth and a nice price point. It is a very fine performance for a regular Tinto in this vintage, round and full, gentle and easygoing, with controlled bursts of flavor. Drink now-2016. Smooth, bitter chocolate-flavored wine, soft, ripe, opulent. The black fig and dark plum flavors are part of a dense concentration. Spice, some pepper and wood tannins go with this powerful richness. To finish, all the sweetness is put into perspective by some fresh acidity.——R.V.(11/1/2009)—— 91
