The 2009 La Milana is a blend of 30% Syrah, 25% Tempranillo, 25% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon weighing in at 15% alcohol. The nose shows the 14 months of oak aging and also the heat from the vintage in the shape of overripe aromas of prunes, raisins, dried figs and dates, and a palate that is equally ripe and round, with a fat texture and a little warmth toward the finish. Drink now.
Albet i Noya is one of the pioneers in organic farming in Spain: the winery started producing organic wines in 1978. They produce a grand total of 1.2 million bottles, both still and sparkling. The latest news is that the sparkling wines will be sold under the Penedes appellation, leaving Cava as many others have already done.
