This is rather sweet and forward for a Cab Franc, but it does kick in with the grape’s chewy tannins, giving the back end heft and depth. The fruit is light and tastes of simple raspberry; the tannins and the back end show earth, compost, and other interesting annotations. The Alder Ridge vineyard supplied the fruit, and the blend includes 10% Malbec—“just for fun,” says the winemaker. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser, showing off the smooth and sappy side of Cab Franc.
