Walla Walla’s Pepper Bridge Vineyard seems to have made richer, riper wines in 2000, and there are deep and delicious flavors of strawberry, cherry and cassis, along with a bit of licorice. Nice concentration here, more than usual, and even a hint of mineral in the finish. ——P.G.(9/1/2002)—— 91

The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Merlot Pepper Bridge has black fruit and freshly laid asphalt aromas.
