Pale ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Botanica has a pure, crystalline expression this vintage, with detailed cranberries, raspberries, tangerine and bitters scents. The light-bodied palate has bright, floral, crunchy red fruit and energetic acidity, finishing with ethereal perfume.

Medium ruby in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Botanica has singular, alluring scents of violets, crushed cranberries and red cherries, blood orange, tobacco and earth—this is incredibly layered, deep and detailed! The medium-bodied palate is packed to the gills with fruits, spices, earth and amaro layers, supported by a fine grain and seamless freshness, finishing long and layered. This is a Pinot Noir full of personality!

The 2014 Pinot Noir Botanica is true to its name, with incredibly singular aromas reminiscent of alpine flora: crushed cranberries, raspberries and fresh blackberries are accented with fir, tomato stalk, scrub brush, citrus peel and earthy notions of forest floor. It has a medium weight and floods the mouth with juniper-laced, sweet berry fruits, with a grainy frame and lip-smacking freshness, finishing long and nuanced. This is so full of personality!

The 2013 Pinot Noir Botanica has a little more aromatic depth than the 2013 Ceras, the fruit more red than the black, with scents of wild strawberry, dried orange peel, dried quince and mossy undergrowth. The palate is very smooth on the entry with red cherries, freshly picked strawberry and a pinch of white pepper. There is good density and backbone on the finish, especially considering the growing season. I appreciate the persistence here, the hints of dried blood and morels on the aftertaste imparting character and complexity. Savor this over several years.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Botanica is Maggie Harrison's more fruit-driven take on Pinot Noir, instigated after she noticed a difference with a small number of barrels in her debut 2007 vintage. It has more sappy, "sanguine" red fruit compared to the Botanica, to use her own vernacular. It has a very pure bouquet that offers gorgeous wilted violet and seaweed scents that combine beautifully with the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with notes of candied orange peel, dark plum, molasses and a hint of fennel. It is extremely well balanced with very fine acidity and real tension toward the finish. This is another outstanding wine from Antica Terra.
