I have been impressed with the offerings from this producer in southern Italy. Their 2000 Copertino is a big, robust, full-bodied (14% alcohol), deep ruby/purple-colored effort displaying sweet aromas of jammy black fruits, melted licorice, and asphalt. There is no hint of oak in this fruit-driven, glycerin-filled, fleshy red. Drink it over the next 2-3 years for its exuberance as well as purity. Impressive!
