The 2007 Chardonnay Conner Lee Vineyard, from one of eastern Washington’s finest sites for Chardonnay, lives up to its name. The wine was barrel-fermented, went through 100% malolactic fermentation, and was aged in 50% new French oak. Medium straw-colored with a green tint, it exhibits an enticing perfume of toasty oak, mineral, hazel nuts, apple, and poached pear. Creamy-textured on the palate, it has excellent depth of flavor, vibrant acidity, and a lengthy, pure finish. It over-delivers in a big way for its humble asking price. Arbor Crest Wine Cellars, located in Spokane, makes excellent wines at a range of price points.Tel. (509) 927-9463; www.arborcrest.com
