Rich and soft, with a velvety texture, this lovely Syrah has forward flavors of caramelized blackberries and blueberries, grilled bacon, sauteed wild mushrooms, black pepper and sweet, smoky oak. The tannin structure is dense and fine. It’s very good now, with decanting, and hints at additional complexities over the next 4–5 years.——S.H.(12/15/2009)—— 91
