Spiced and red-fruited with notes of dried herbs, licorice, nutmeg and sandalwood. Medium-bodied with fresh, slightly more mellow fruit and a creamy texture to the tannins. Sleek and polished. Flavorful finish. Better after two or three years.

Notes of ripe red berries, dark chocolate, sweet spices and moist earth. Medium- to full-bodied, textured and velvety with compact tannins and a dense structure. Lingering and firm. Try after 2026.

Monvigliero is one of the most sought-after vineyard sites in Barolo today. The Bel Colle 2018 Barolo Monvigliero shows balanced intensity with dried fruit, earth, crushed white pepper, licorice and crushed rose. The wine is complete, thanks to its balanced acidity and integrated tannins. This is the most elegant of the Barolos presented from this estate.

With fruit from Verduno, the Bel Colle 2017 Barolo Monvigliero is a hot-vintage Nebbiolo that already shows some faint hints of faded fruit. The wine pours to a dark garnet color with medium transparency and ripe aromas with candied cherry, licorice, bramble and earth. There are some crushed flowers in there as well, highlighted by dried violets. Some 10,000 bottles were made.

Drawing its fruit from Verduno, the Bel Colle 2016 Barolo Monvigliero is a tight and sprightly expression. The wine delivers a lean and slender mouthfeel with a full bouquet of blue flower, wild berry, forest floor and aniseed. Monvigliero shows nice balance, and what it lacks in outright intensity, it delivers in finesse and smoothness. The tannins are softly integrated, giving this wine an accessible, silky or medium-term personality. Annual production is 10,000 bottles.
